We are asking you to help us compile a database highlighting your particular skills and expertise.

This database will include anyone over 50 with some sort of know-how in a specific area. For example, if you are particularly good at bricklaying or flower-arranging, would you be willing to share your knowledge with another Zone member? You might wish to trade your skills with another Saga Zoner, where both of you could benefit from a cashless swapping of knowledge.

Whether you are creative or practical in your chosen field, we would love to hear from you.

Many thanks for your help.

Recycling...Making Pet Beds for animal rescue out of old and not so old duvets, all donated, as is most of the fabric ,mostly unwanted curtains. They wash and dry easily. Very easy to make if you can sew a straight line, was a complete novice when I started, if you want to give your local cat/dog rescue much needed help, please contact me.

Hello Fellow Zoners and our Moderator.
I have recently joined your forum and am keen to understand if one or more of you are seeking to put your years of experience and wisdom to good effect?
My concept, should our Moderator feel it fits into the 'House Rules', would be to create, as part of Saga's offerings, an interim employment agency, allowing those who are approaching their twighlight years to provide their skills on a part-time of short term basis to fledgling companies.
I would hope that there would be some opportunity to earn some remuneration for your services, but keep in mind that fledgling companies are always very short of funds.
I feel that this might be an alternative to constant rejection by job interviewers when they see the wrinkles and grey hair!
An alternative senior work force, providing wisdom and experience could be exactly the injection of talent back into the system that the economy needs.
I should welcome your thoughts and feed back and providing there is sufficient response, I would like to raise this to a higher level within Saga and hope to provide the vehicle to alloy you to contribute further.
I look forward to your thoughts
FunkyFarmer

Another definition of an expert is 'someone who knows more and more about less and less until he/she knows everything about nothing.'

I'm a copy-editor and proofreader - unfortunately not a skill that is valued enough these days. A few people on this and other threads have mentioned they want to get their writing published. I write as well and find that I can read my own stuff twenty times and still find mistakes in it - you really need that second pair of eyes. I'm working freelance so often have time on my hands! when I'd be happy to cast my eye over anything (within reason) that can be sent electronically.

I work for a firm of utility consultants on their water team. If anyone's having problems with their water supply or charges I'd be glad to help if I can.

Design and Development of Printed materials and training of publishers. Co-ordination of publishing projects, working mostly with young or inexperienced (first time) publishers. Specialised in managing such projects for materials in languages other than English.

I take the raw written material, knock it into shape to make it fit into the number of pages you can afford, for the size of page you need (for example, A5 vs A4). then I set it onto pages (in electronic layout program files). Maintaining your budget, I order the artwork, receive and prepare it and place it on the pages. Eventually I provide files appropriate for printers anywhere in the world, and make sure this gets archived too.

So - anyone for a good book?

Hello
I could sort you out with a French speaker if you want. My Spanish is more limited. I mess around with changing bits and pieces inside computers; I mess about with fences and occasionally go up ladders. I too need a webpage done, I think I could do it myself if I put my mind to it.

I have been nursing for 36 years in a variety of roles and more recently as a District Nurse, so if you need CPR then Im the girl for you! I also have experience with teaching deaf awareness to members of the health sector, mainly because I am hearing impaired myself. In the past I ve made occassion cakes, done some diy and upholstery and now I am making cards for familyand friends. I am not an expert by any means but have got a lot of life experience and Im more like jack of all trades. So if younthink I can help then please message me.
