I hope to put a few words together re involvement with the Saga Charitable Trust - and the Doikum School in Thailand. There are other projects .

People who are interested in this topic may wish to view a page from my site - and then perhaps ask questions, so I have a better idea of what might interest them.

Thank you Sabot9, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Please do visit the website as mentioned above, it is very interesting to see the good work that is carried out overseas via our volunteering scheme.

In the absence of specific questions I give just a brief outline of my contact with the Saga Charitable Trust. This activity was before the SCT Newsletter came into being.

Because I was known to a teacher at the school, having assisted in the past with visas, and visits to schools in England, I was asked if I would help the Doikum School present a case for two projects to the Saga Charitable Trust.

One was related to the provision of self help food facilities, and the other for new computers to go into a new building, which had been built with money donated from other sources. At the time, I was in course of negotiating for second user equipment to be sent to Thailand, which was not without difficulty.

My main task was to ensure that the best possible case was put to the Trust - partly in letters, and partly at a meeting at Enbrook Park, between the Trust and the Thai school representative.

This I did, and the Trust eventually funded both projects, to the delight of the school which became thoroughly updated in a very short space of time.
