Subject: Dolls Houses

Does anyone out there own a doll's house, or maybe two or three. I have three, an Edwardian, a 1930's and 1970-80's. The last one is still in an unfinished state, but the other two are virtually finished. Last week I did the guttering and downpipes for Edwardian and 1930 houses and they look okay. If your interested press the reply and let me know your passion.

If you go to store which is based in Ireland called The Shaker Store (ie) and order the catalogue. You will find that their are three types of houses that you can purchase.

Thanks Fi1 for the information, might be a good idea as so many of the dolls house shops are closing at an alarming rate.

I have two houses. One was a kit from Dolls House Emporium and the other I built from scratch. I haven't finished the latter one yet, I think I'm having a gap year! I have to finish the roof tiles and construct a chimney yet. The dolls house fairs are very interesting.

Hello collectors and enthusiasts
I do not have miniature houses but have two miniature shops the shells of which I bought. One I like to call a Mid-West Haberdashery Emporium and the other is a toy shop. I made sokme of the items in the Habby shop. I also have a Christmas Room which I bring out of course, for the festive season. I have used a small fish tank on its side and filled it with miniature Christmas things! I admit I have lost enthusiasm for the collection over the years, but have kept several Miniaturist Magazines and book etc.
I also enjoyed going to Miniature Fairs-the displays are amazing.

We have a doll's house in the family which my father made for my youngest sister born in 1940. We made a lot of the contents, and bought some as well from Woolworth's I remember. It has been re=papered several times for the girls in the family and is now with my great-granddaughter!
We kn itted rugs, and there were electric lights (torch bulbs) powered by a battery under the stairs.
The size is about 3ft 6" by 2ft deep, four rooms and a central staircase. Hours of fun and creativity!

If anyone is interested I have some photos of my dollshouses (Victorian house and a 50's pub) in my gallery - they are finished now (I'm sure I can still find things to do) - but I still love to 'fiddle around' with them now and again. I have one in our conservatory and the pub has been moved to my little spare bedroom as we were running out of space! I do love them but I really haven't got the space or patience to make any more. They took about five years in the making from start to finish and we enjoyed every minute.

Hi, I have three dolls houses, one is an American Colonial house, another one is set in the 1930's and the latest one is a 1970's house still unfinished but it's getting there, the hold up is a trim phone, I can't get one anywhere, so it looks like I shall have to make one.

If anyone is interested there is a beautiful book out about miniature houses called "Magnicent Miniatures" by Mulvaney and Rogers.
