Just listening to Michael Sheen picking his top 6 films - so, what's yours?

I tend to like the last good film I saw - and have probably forgotten hundreds of great ones But anyway, here's my stab at it -

The English Patient - just a wonderful film, powerful, and beautiful and ugly all at once.
Life of Brian - the funniest film ever in this quadrant of the galaxy - brilliant
2001 - astonishing - I'm still gob-smacked that this got made
The Gold Rush - Chaplin was a genius (despite the schmalz) - the timing in the boxing match is superb.
Annie Hall - the best thing Woody will ever do, funny, sad, realistic, cinematic...
The Seven Samurai - bloody good western

HRPuffenSpliff Posts: 88	Subject: Re: Your top 6 films Posted At: 13/06/2009 21:56:14 hi Sukie, sorry about that i forgot there were 2 versions , i have only seen the one with johnny depp, and i thought the stage set was incredibly well built and the whole film so atmospheric, i found it visually stunning more than well acted, the acting wasnt too bad it wasnt brilliant either tho i have to be greedy here and mention another few of my favourites 1. Brief Encounter - lust & repression all in one film 2. little big man - dustin does the whole north american indian thingy long before dances with wolves 3. the shining - my all time fav truly scary horror movie, it gets worse every time i watch it 4. passport to pimlico - alec guiness & co run amok in ealing 5. saving private ryan - for the spectacular opening battle scenes 6. any film with the marx brothers in - i wish i could remember the title of the one with the mirror sequence, was it duck soup? how many leading men get to be called wolfgang t firefly or whatever he was called - groucho marx is still funny now
