I loved the comedy "New Tricks". But it seems to have (apart from endless repeats) disappeared from our screens. I thought it had been quite popular, so am surprised that there has been no word of a new series. Does anyone know why it was taken off our screens?

I loved it too Rona but the last series was quite a dark one, if I remember correctly, where one of the characters (whose name I can't remember for the life of me Not sure) who was a recovering alcholic, started to drink again. At the time I wondered whether that was going to be the last series .... I haven't heard/read anything else about it though.

A shame if it doesn't come back ....

I think Alun Armstrong played the alcoholic.

I " googled" new Tricks and in 2008 it was reported that a new series had been commissioned for showing in 2009. But there has been not a word.

Alun Armstrong - that's the one Happy

Perhaps it will return in the Autumn schedules - fingers crossed anyway.

Yipee. Why have there been no trailers on tv? There seem to be endless ones for all the programmes I don't want to watch.
Thanks for that. I couldn't find any reference on google that was up-to-date.

It said in the Daily Express a few weeks ago that a new series was actually being filmed, and there was a photo of the cast on location.

When it will be shown, it didn't say.

I like it too. The relationships between the 4 of them are portrayed wonderfully. It's so lighthearted and funny, yet there's a story every episode.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. At last something decent to watch. Now if they just bring back the No. 1 Ladies detective agency I will be in heaven

Yeah - just caught up with last week's in iplayer and tonight's on telly. Great!! I think this series so far has been better than the last. I enjoyed tonight's with its theme of conspiracy theories wrapped up in conspiracy theories. I'll say no more in case others have yet to watch it but I laughed out loud at several bits.

yes it is good i like the fun in it but it always makes a serious point as well as we all know they were flying out prisoners through british airports so it might have happened

Yes the conspiracy theory within the conspiracy theory was very tongue in cheek X files. This is a great series I am a fan of Brian!

I also love this series. Its James Bolam for me. Remember him from When the Boat Comes In and of course Susan Jamieson.

I think he is married to her in real life - James Bolam that is. I loved the Beiderbeck Affair which they showed quite recently. That was a very quirky series.

Yes it was Barbara Flynn but I don't think I watched Family at War. I think she was also in A Very Peculiar practice - that was also very quirky!
