I've often stayed at the Hamilton in Menorca. I love it there.

We had a room overlooking the entrance to the harbour, found it interesting watching the cruise ships and ferries go by, there was always somrthing going on. Living in the West Midlands this was so different for us.

Hi,
Will be staying at the Iberostar in Lanzarote in a couple of month's time and wondering if there is an electric socket adjacent to the beds?

I think as a lone traveller you have taken the right step by booking with Saga, they certainly take care of you and you won't feel alone.
My husband and I have gone away with Saga twice or three times a year with them since retireing and have met some lovely people. First night there is usually a cocktail party so you get to meet people and a lot of the hotels have special interest weeks, there is usually good entertainment and the Saga reps are really helpfull and cater for every ones needs-----so go for it,
we have been to Sol ifach Calpe--Port Denia --Punta Umbria---Riu Playa and Riu callor millor both excellent --- Radisson Blu-- and are going to Fort Arabesque and Sans luis this year so if you want any more info please ask:

We had our first Saga holiday last year, we had a week in the Hotel Elba Carlota on Fuerteventura and I can truefully say it was the best we have had in 25 + years. We were so well looked after by David the rep. I even got talked into doing a small talk about my life as a garden-boy. (tried to get travel exs form UK but no luck) The food in the main resturant was so good the a la carte restaurant was not used other than for the Saga special dinner. We have already booked this years holiday with saga in Malta.

Does anybody know if Saga has any hotels nearer to Alicante than the three mentioned on the travel threads - Port Denia,Kaktus Albir and SH Ifach(Calpe)?

Thanks Sabot. I will but having studied the relentless supply Saga brochures it looks like they are or more or less centred on Benidorm. Benidorm isn't all that far away from Alicante so I might end up there. I wanted to visit a relative and thought I try and get as near as possible.

No probs - I was just about to say ....except Benidorm !
The Avenida in Benidorm is more centrally located, but a long walk uphill to the Ttrain station.
The Vista d'Oro is a bit nearer but not the same standard, and further from the beachfronts.
The Ttrain runs between Alicante and Denia.
The Kaktus at Albir is not that far from the Altea Ttrain station, and there is a bus every quarter of an hour or so. Personally I prefer to stay out of Benidorm itself - but have the availability of a regular bus should I wish to visit.......
Don't forget your Pensionista rates on the Ttrain !
Good luck.

A couple of years ago we had a very nice Saga holiday at the 5* Madeira Regency Palace, and administratively Madeira is part of Portugal.
The hotel is at elevated location with a view across the Atlantic, about 2 miles out of central Funchal with a regular courtesy coach to the city centre.

Has anyone stayed at the Sun Resort, Montenegro? My mum has just booked ther in April and is now getting cold feet.
Reviews on Tripadvisor are a bit mixed. Saga have told her there are steps to access some areas within the hotel and also she has booked in a bungalow and is now not sure if she should have selected aroom in th emain building - has anyone got any experience of the hotel, please?

have just returned from a 14 day holiday at the Aguamarina Hotel, Golf del Sur, Tenerife. If anyone requires information about this hotel or surrounding area, maybe I can help.

For someone on their own the Aguamarina in Tenerife would be O.K. This hotel has its own Saga Lounge where Saga people congregate. Also it is all inclusive, when booking in, you get a card and this is handed over every time you visit the bar. (no complications about who is paying for what). Saga lounge has coffee and tea available all day, there is also a small library in the lounge and newspapers. Michaela, the Saga Rep. is a little gem.

Hi Janeta
Have you considered Croatia, I stayed at the Meteor Hotel Makarska.
Although It was a few years ago still seems to be popular with Saga
Clientele. I have tried to book the holiday on several occasions only to
be told that the dates I required were fully booked. Everything about the holiday
was perfect, due to the excellent rep down there (Sandy) The excurions to
Mostar, Dubrovnik, and Omis were good value for money. Just behind the hotel
Is the towns bus station where you can take the bus into Split.
Another you might like to consider, Greece, the Oceania Hotel Helkidiki. The Saga
accomodation had fantastic views of Mount Olympus and without doubt the week
I spent there represented excellent value for money..

.
There's a bus service that runs up to the station from the Calle Esperanto, which isn't far from the Avenida
