I was 58 when I started to learn to dance at the Lincoln Dancentre, Sincil Bank, Lincoln. That was 10 years ago. Prior to that I had always moved to the beer bar when the dancing started!
I, firstly, learnt the basic steps to the standard Ballroom Dances e.g. waltz, quickstep etc.
Despite being one who has two left feet and tone deaf, it went reasonably well.
I really came into my own when we started to learn Modern Sequence Dances. Of the 3000 or so dances I learnt about 30 of them.Big Grin Slowly but surely I forgot some of them. I still can dance the Saunter Together, Rumba Number 1, Catherine Waltz etc., so that I can enjoy a bit of dancing, when available, on holiday.
Recently, I have learned the Wansbeck Waltz, Sky Swing, Talisker Tango and one other, the name of which I forget and, probably, the steps too!
Lois Baker, owner and tutor at the Lincoln Dancentre is very patient with me. Not half as patient as my wife has had to be when dancing around the ballroom(s) with me!!Hmmm
Keep smiling

I would love to learn to dance but being on my own I am fearful of going alone.I know it sounds stupid as I am quite a chatty person but until I get to know people I am very shy.

Hi chrisse - I hate to 'bang' on about it but try line dancing as no partner is required. It is good fun and you will make new friends. If you are interested, let me know roughly the area you live in and I will see if via my Line Dancing web page I can find you a beginners class.
